  The Bachelor of Arts in Communication program was started in 2013. Its emphasis is on humanities, science and technology, design, marketing, and integrated communication. Communication theory is the foundation of the course enabling the understanding of film, television, print media, journalism, as well as different marketing methods. The degree program curriculum combines art, design, cultural and historical literacy, and business management skills from various fields in able to create a digital video and audio presentation thereby making good use of communication theory to enhance the students’ use of multiple applications and improve their communication ability.

Curriculum

The department’s curriculum planning includes aesthetics, humanities, communication arts and practical experience of media marketing management, film and video media. In response to international media, the dissemination of art, and cultural connotations in the era of convergent trends; the department fosters the knowledge of video media, performance art and marketing management personal including advertising, film and television program production and broadcasting talent. Freshman students study art-related curriculum. Sophomores and Juniors focus on featured television program production. Seniors perform professional internships and create graduation products based on their studies. The department serves to cultivate student creative marketing ability, language ability in the creative arts, media advertising, planning and production capacity, video program production and broadcasting capabilities.

The Department of Communication Arts consists of nine staff members. The complete field of teachers’ expertise in the department covers: film making art, video production, theater design, performance art, animation and digital post-production.

m01 Hsiu-Chin Tsai
Currently an professor at Dayeh University's College of Design and Arts, Tsai Hsiu-Chin formerly served as dean of the college, as head of National Sun Yat-sen University's Department of Theater Arts, and as vice president of the Wei Wu Ying Center for the Arts, not to mention serving as stage director for the National Chiang Kai-Shek Cultural Center for many years.
Tsai was majored in art history at the Universität Graz and also educated at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz / Austria.(MFA&MA) In her early years, Tsai was devoted to painting and has often had her works displayed in exhibitions, including Paris' annual "Salon d'Automne." She has devoted her life to artistic creation and promoting the arts, while also often being involved with stage design, stage lighting, and costume design both at home and abroad. Stage productions that Tsai has worked on include Salome, Der fliegende Holländer , Die Walküre, Carmen, Aida, Otello, Rigoletto, Cavalleria rusticana, La Bohéme, Orfeo ed Euridice, Turandot, L'enfant et les sortilèges, Hänsel und Gretel, Madama Butterfly, La clemenza di Tito, Ariadne auf Naxos, among others, including a currently running production of Das Land des Lächelns in Germany.
Tsai's works has been on the stages of the Dortmund Opera House, Gießen's muncipal theatre, The Royal Opera House Den Haag, Singapore's Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, Taipei's National Theater and Hong Kong's Grand Theatre…

A 4 year BFA degree program of courses include Major Requirements and Liberal Arts Requirements. Total Credits: 128
  Career Perspective
Student prospective fields will take place in marketing, public relations, advertising planning, performance and publicity, television news editing, film and video production and direction, photography, TV programming production and marketing management. In the future, students can continue their studies abroad either by entering mass communication, journalism, advertising, design, theatrical institutes, or other relevant graduate program studies.
